CABH volunteers took to the streets of Hove in recent weeks and with the online <a href=\"https:\/\/chng.it\/wnmNjdHvFQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">change.org<\/a> petition has gathered over 1600 signatures so far! At 1250 signatures we reached our first target requirement to bring the petition to the council, which will happen in October 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In July former councillor and CABH member Anne Pissaridou submitted a question about Southern Water&#8217;s persistent water pollution in Brighton and Hove to the council chamber, and also asked a supplementary question, urging the council to demand the government brings Southern Water back into public ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The government&#8217;s Water Regulator Ofwat recently allowed Southern Water to hike their charges by 47%. This will take the average water bill to \u00a3703.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">England and Wales are the only countries to have a fully privatised water system. No other country in the world has to put up with this.
